Remarks on Entry 33

After the baby’s name, followed by her place of birth, three names occur preceded, respecitvely, by the following single-letter abbreviations:

  • P — indicates the father. Perhaps from the Latin Pater = father

  • M — for mother;`Mutter` = mother

  • S — for apparently the godparent.

The godmother’s name is challenging because "Kröger", while a surname, also means "innkeeper". Her married surname appears to be Meier. The maiden name is more challenging.

The u in Louse is resembles the laten character y — but one assumes this is an diiosyncratically drawn u. The s following it is identical to the Kurrent h, a practice used in the Petzen church records also.
